What makes a book interesting to you? Is it strong characters? Interesting history? Interesting storyline? Or something else? Why?

For me, it has to be strong characters and a story that makes sense. If the author jumps around, I can't follow it. Also, I like humor even when the story isn't a comedy. Basically, I need to be so interested, I get fully immersed I forget about reality while reading.
